E. Classroom Application

  Obtain a current Alabama Course of Study for a subject area and grade level you teach.
 
1. Examine the goals and objectives that are provided.
   
2. Sequence the goals in the order that you think is appropriate for your students.
   
3. Now look at the objectives associated with those goals.
   
4. Add any other goals or objectives you think should be needed (or helpful) for your students. (Remember the Courses of Study are minimum standards.)
   
5. Are there any goals or objectives that could be integrated into other subject areas? If so, list them and make notes beside them indicating the other subject area(s) that are applicable.
   
6. On what basis did you sequence the goals? What did you consider?
   
7.

Examine your objectives, particularly those you have written. Check to see if they are:

  • student centered

  • outcomes rather than activities

  • measurable

  • clearly stated

  • inclusive of multiple cognitive level
Discuss what you have done with your mentor teacher or evaluator.
